Mayflies: Renew
Mayflies: Renew is the second phase of Mayflies: Swarm & Renew.
The first phase, Swarm was an exhibition of 10,000 hand-cut paper mayflies, installed in a derelict nuclear bunker. You can find out more about that here.
Renew will be a community project where members of the public will recycle all the paper used in Swarm to make their own artwork. This artwork will be exhibited alongside information about the whole project.
I am currently working on a grant application for this phase of the project. If you would like to get involved in the project, please let me know.
Maybe you are an artist who works with paper, a community group who would like workshops or someone who just wants to know more. Email me - info@katarinaprior.com
The massive effort to recycle all the paper has already begun. I was invited to the Edinburgh Climate Festival where I worked with people to recycle some of the paper into their own artwork.
People at the festival were taught how to make their own paper which they then decorated with different coloured pulp. They could also draw onto pre-made recycled paper.
